Crate & Barrel Pumpkin Spice Loaf & My Improvements

The best pumpkin spice bread ever

Pumpkin bread is something we actually enjoy year round in our home, but our favorite isn't sold year round so I stock up. I make pumpkin bread 1-2 times a month.

Cherryvale Farms had my favorite, and unfortunately, they went out of business so I went on the hunt for a comparable pumpkin loaf... I discovered Crate&Barrel's Pumpkin Bread!

This year, it looks like they've added chocolate chips to the box and changed the name to Pumpkin Chocolate Chunk Quick Bread Mix... I love me some chocolate, but I can also be a purist when I love something. I hope they release the regular/original Crate & Barrel Pumpkin Spice Loaf Mix soon... I got my 👁️ on you Crate & Barrel!

I think one of the reasons C&B is trying to switch it up is because they haven’t found what I found… the right mixture of wet ingredients to add to their boxed pumpkin loaf… So they’ve changed the name and added chocolate hoping that will solve the mid-point reviews.

Here's the trick! I don't follow the recipe on the box... Yes, the top cracks a bit but it's so much tastier this way (which is inspired by the Cherryvale Farms mix). Plus, I added real pumpkin to the pumpkin bread that had no pumpkin... Baaa…. wha???

Here's the mix/ recipe...

Follow the temp of 350F on the box and use a loaf pan.

🎃Mix the boxed dry mix with...
(1) 1/2 tsp baking powder
Then mix in wet goods...
(2) 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
(3) 1 egg
(4) 4 tbsp water
(5) 1 Can Pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix... Just pumpkin)

My recipe cuts the oil in half too and replaces it with pumpkin. 😋

✋Hand mix with a spatula and add to the greased loaf pan. Bake for around 40 minutes.

🗣️Heads up! This loaf will be moister than any others you've made (apologies to any of you moist word weirdos out there!) The toothpick should come out clean, but the loaf will stick to the knife when hot, and even a little when it’s cool. If you're a butter eater, it does elevate it to another level as well. The salt with the sweet… Heavenly!

This is my first recipe -ish post but it seemed fitting since we have pumpkin bread or pumpkin loaf so much. I should just find a recipe from scratch, but one of the things I love the most is that it’s so quick and easy and I don’t need to reach for 15 ingredients. I hope you enjoy this Fall Favorite! We may not be out drinking all the Pumpkin Spice Lattes this year, but we don’ have to miss out on all the pumpkin fun!

PS - I am an affiliate marketer, but I did not get paid for this posting, nor do I get paid on pumpkin bread sales at Crate & Barrel. This was a completely genuine post, although my affiliate ones are too.
