Goodmylk Oat Creamer and Four Sigmatic Coffee; The Vegan Adaptogen Duo

Mushroom Coffee and Mushroom Creamer

Looking for less caffeine crash?

Have you considered mushroom coffee and mushroom creamer?

Goodmylk Oat Creamer and Four Sigmatic Coffee make a great dynamic adaptogen duo for your morning ritual of caffeine. How do I know this? I’ve been drinking Four Sigmatic Coffee for two years and I’ve been committed to my oat creamer as being the best addition to the adaptogen coffee. I recently discovered a non-liquid based coffee creamer that scoops like a sugar, but gives me the ability to double down on my mushroom adaptogens… Goodmylk Oat Creamer!

First, what are adaptogens and why do I think they’re so important? Adaptogens are herbs (often found in mushrooms or nightshades) that help us react and recover from both short- and long-term physical or mental stressors. They can also boost immunity, combat fatigue, balance hormones, enhance mental performance… The biggest benefit to mushroom coffee is that it can help with depression and anxiety. There have even been studies, medical journals and publications on the Effects of Adaptogens on the Nervous System and Stress

I have adult acne, spouts of depression, and the anxiety that most humans have felt since coronavirus started. I also work in HR, which means I’m expected to keep my shit together so I can help everyone through theirs. It’s an added element of stress that could use a little adaptogen help from Four Sigmatic Coffee and GoodMylk Oat Creamer

I will note that Goodmylk does offer an Almond Creamer. Their adaptogen coffee creamers don’t require refrigeration. Goodmylk does sell, well, milks too. These Goodmylk products are all vegan, as all of their products are, and they come in 6-packs of fresh/frozen concentrates. I haven’t tried these yet, for a couple reasons.

First, they’re expensive! I’m ok with spending money on quality, but they come out to around $11 for each 32 oz milk (after mixed) and that’s twice as much as I spend at Whole Foods for a great brand. The ingredient list is quite impressive though. Goodmilk only uses 4 ingredients in their Super Oat Milk Concentrate. The list of ingredients on the Goodmylk’s website is as follows: Certified Gluten-Free Oats, Tigernuts (not a nut, a vegetable!), Dates, Alkaline Water, Ancient Mineral Salt. If Goodmilks vegan milk pricing comes down to around $5-$7 per milk, I would love to try the product. If you don’t flinch at the price for the quality, I can offer you $10 OFF a 6-pack of any of the three Goodmylk vegan milk products. My referral only works on the milks, and mot the creamers unfortunately. If you’re interested in $10 OFF a Goodmylk Super Oat Concentrate, click here!

Why Oat-Milk over Almond-Milk?

There’s one Goodmylk product I would encourage you to steer away from, if you’re able to. 80% of the world's almonds are grown in California, where they use 10% of the state’s water. Almonds can absolutely be grown elsewhere, but political and economical reasons have driven more than the ecological reasons to slow down almond growing in California as it’s the second most economical crop for the state. We need that water in California to combat wildfires and drought. I’m not almond free. I do love the occasional Kind Bar. I have made easy life decisions to cut down almond consumption. One example is choosing Oat Creamer over Almond Creamer.

The Four Sigmatic Coffee Taste and Experience

So, let me tell you all about the experience of Four Sigmatic Coffee before delving into Goodmylk and how both work together. Firstly, I’ve tried almost all Four Sigmatic Coffees. I do wish Four Sigmatic sold a whole bean coffee (maybe someday soon) but I think it’s truly because there are mushrooms like Chaga and Lion’s Mane in the coffee blends and that must be hard to do unless it’s ground coffee.

Now that we’ve established that Four Sigmatic Coffees are ground, let’s pick a formula and flavor. The most popular is the Four Sigmatic Coffee - Think, Dark Roast. I personally think that dark roasts get all the hype, and medium roasts are generally the best, followed by light roasts. Here’s one thing for you that not many people know. Dark roasts have a deceptive flavor that convinces folks they must be heavy in caffeine. It’s actually light roasts that have the most caffeine generally. I’m a huge fan of the half-caffeine Four Sigmatic - Balance Coffee with Ashwagandha & Eleuthero Adaptogens, Medium Roast

Why would I choose half-caffeine for my coffee? Well, because the adaptogens bring energy without the crash. So, in actuality, it’s still the same or more energy given to me, but a small morning jolt with the caffeine and the balance and stabilizing energy throughout the day with adaptogens.

If you’re not convinced that half-caffeine coffee can do the trick, then I recommend Four Sigmatic Coffee - Immune Support Coffee with Vitamin D & Chaga Mushrooms, Medium Roast. If you’re on the opposite side of the spectrum and cannot do caffeine, but like the taste of coffee, Four Sigmatic Coffee - Chill Decaf Coffee with Reishi & Chaga Mushrooms, Medium Roast

Does Four Sigmatic Coffee Taste Like Mushrooms?

I’ll answer this question very simply. Absolutely not. None. No mushroom taste at all. The addition of chaga to coffee is three fold. First, chaga brews dark, with the appearance of coffee so mixing it with mushroom coffee provides a deceptive effect. Second, chaga has a bold flavor when brewed, just like coffee. Thirdly, you’re provided the benefits that this wonderful adaptogenic mushroom provides to your adrenal glands. Chaga is the special mushroom behind Four Sigmatic Coffee and mushroom coffees.

The Googmylk Co. Super Oat Activated Creamer Taste and Experience

The Goodmylk Oat Creamer is a powdered creamer with the benefits of reishi, lion’s mane, astragalus, and tocotrienols. It’s recommended to use an electric whisk or frother, which Goodmylk does sell in a combo pack too. A froth-top forms after whisking for 30-60 seconds. When using the traditional spoon-in method, small little particles do appear. Not like the milk has split, because this isn’t real milk. It’s more like the frother breaks apart the particles more once the Goodmylk Oat Creamer hits a hot beverage and is properly mixed. The particles aren’t gritty in the mouth. Mostly just visual. Again, they dissipate if you use the recommended frother or electric whisk with the Goodmylk Oat Creamer.

Does the Goodmylk Oat Creamer Taste Like Mushrooms?

Nope. It has a very oat-like creaminess, with the touch of sweetness and caramelization from the dates. By the way, can I give an amen for the fact that dates are used in this creamer? Dates are known to be a natural sweetener that help regulate blood sugar levels. I’ll also note that the sweetness is mild and just enough to take the bite of the coffee acid away. FYI, I haven’t tried the Goodmylk Almond Activated Creamer because I prefer oat creamers, and I’m also committed to reducing my almond consumption to combat the wildfires and drought situation in California. If you’re on the fence and don’t have a preference, I encourage you to join me this one time in purchasing the Googmylk Oat Creamer vs the Goodmylk Almond Creamer.
