Homemade Vegan Mango Coconut Yogurt Recipe: Yogurt-Maker, Instant-Pot or Sous-Vide

Homemade Vegan Mango Coconut Yogurt Recipe that can be made in a Yogurt Maker, an Instant Pot or a Sous-Vide! 🥭

This Vegan Yogurt and Plant Based Yogurt Recipe is actually quite simple. I've purchased those $25 jars of yogurt from Whole Foods that last 3 breakfasts, like the Non-Dairy New Earth Superfoods Unsweetened Probiotic Coconut Yogurt or The Coconut Cult Original Probiotic Coconut Yogurt. For a marginal cost AND you can add the probiotics you like and need that will end up being fresh and lively, you can make your own yogurt. You can add more protein as well, since we all need that when having a plant based diet, a vegan diet, vegetarian, or even when just trying to eat less meat. I should warn that this recipe is not paleo though, for those that are paleo, but it can be adjusted with a different protein for those that are. My favorite organic and vegan protein powder contains pea protein, which makes it not paleo friendly.

One major misconception about yogurt (or yoghurt) is that you need to use a yogurt starter packet or a yogurt starter from a store-bought yogurt. You don’t. In-fact, I like to use probiotic pills from the probiotics that respond best with my body and my needs, and I switch up the probiotics for biodiversity in my gut flora. Here’s a list of my favorite probiotics that I rotate within my yogurts:

Recipe for this Plant Based Diet and Vegan Mango Coconut Yogurt / Yoghurt:

3 Cups mango

1 Can Coconut Cream

2 Cups Coconut Milk

3 Dates or Prunes

4 Probiotic Pills

1/3 Cup Chia Seeds

2 Scoops Protein Powder

***This recipe makes roughly 70 fluid oz of vegan yogurt.

Blend all ingredients except the chia seeds (add them last)... pour into jars... set the yogurt maker and 24-36 hours later, the yogurt will be bubbling and lively with cultures and yummy yogurt.... At a fraction of the cost too! I use a Ninja blender. I haven’t caved into the Nutribullet trend yet. I know Costco sometimes sells both Ninja and Nutribullet at great deals if you ever make that plunge.

All you have to do is invest in a yogurt-maker OR if you have an Instant-Pot or a Sous-Vide, you can use the yogurt settings. Just make sure to buy a quality protein powder. You can read my post here on two of my favorites and why I like and dislike each based on amino acids and quality factors. Scroll down for recommendations on a yogurt maker (or yoghurt maker) and a sous vide.

With this Vegan Mango Coconut Yogurt Recipe, make sure that you don't get too caught up in the coloring. This is natural without anything artificial.

If you’re new to Vegan and Plant Based Yogurt, you must adjust your expectations from dairy products. Dairy makes me break out, and I have IBS with lactose intolerance and I still do eat meat and dairy, but I’ve cut out dairy from the easy places like coffee and yogurt and I save my dairy consumption for a nice Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam Brea (maybe my favorite cheese ever!) or crema on my enchiladas. I also only eat beef 1-2 times a month and mostly eat chicken and sustainable fish, or imperfect foods provides the fish meat close to the tails which is less ordered at fish markets but still tastes very yummy.

I say all this because if you follow my Instagram or my podcast, you’ll notice I’m not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I’m cutting down my meat and dairy significantly. It’s better to do a lot of something most of the time than to do nothing none of the time, right?

I have a Yogurt Maker, a Sous Vide and an Instant Pot. Here are links to the models I’ve used and owned for a long-time. I’ve made Yogurt with all three of them at different time and all turned out successful.

The Yogurt Maker:

NutriChef Yogurt Maker for $40 on Amazon.
This is the newer version of the Yogurt maker I've used for 8 years!

The Sous Vide:

The absolute best Sous Vide out there is the Breville Joule Sous Vide. I have the stainless steel one, but I’m sure the polycarbonate one is great too. If you don’t know what sous vide is, read here. You can buy direct with Breville for the best warranty, but Amazon usually sells the Breville Joule Sous Vide (Stainless Steel OR polycarbonate) it for the same price with prime delivery for most of the US. I’ve had my Breville Joule Sous Vide for around 4 years, and I purchased mine from Costco. Worth checking Costco out to see if they have it for sale, but I’m a Costco junkie and I’ve never seen it there since. I have seen Costco sell the Anova Sous Vide Precision Cooker a few times, and it’s well reviewed, but I cannot attest to it.

The Instant Pot

Costco will often sell the Instant Pot and tons of Instant Pot baking accessories. You can of course purchase the Instant Pot many places like Amazon Prime as well. I can’t recommend the Instant Pot enough. I’ve had my Instant Pot for around 5 years and I use it at least once a week.

I initially posted this vegan coconut mango yogurt recipe on Instagram. You can view the original Instagram post and follow me here. Please note, there has been a slight adjustment with more chia seed and less protein powder from the recipe posted on Instagram.
